Returns and Refunds

Last updated: 26 October 2026

The short version

Changed your mind before we have sent it? Tell us and you get your money back, no argument. Once it has left us we cannot take fresh produce or planting stock back for a change of mind — but if it arrives damaged, rotten, late or not what you ordered, that is on us and we will replace it or refund it. Email us with a photograph and we will sort it out.

Before we have sent it

Produce is picked and packed to order, so there is usually a gap between your order and it leaving us. Cancel at any point in that gap and you get a full refund, including any delivery you paid for. Just email admin@plot48.co.uk with your order reference.

After it has been sent

Fresh produce and living planting stock are treated differently from other goods. A squash does not keep for ever and a garlic bulb is a living thing on its way to being planted, so we cannot accept a return simply because you have changed your mind once it has left us. This is normal for produce and plants, and it is why the cancellation window above matters.

That has nothing to do with faults. If something is wrong with the order, read on — your rights there are not affected by any of the above.

If something is wrong with it

Tell us if your order:

Photograph it, email us at admin@plot48.co.uk with your order reference, and tell us whether you would rather have a replacement or your money back. Please get in touch within 48 hours of receiving it where the problem is the condition of the produce, simply because the sooner we know, the better we can work out what went wrong. If you find a problem later than that, tell us anyway.

We will not normally ask you to post anything back to us. A photograph is enough.

About seed garlic and crops

Seed garlic is sold as planting stock. We select it for growing on and the planting notes on the box and the site are our honest guidance from growing it here. What it does in your ground depends on your soil, your weather and what you do with it, and a poor crop next summer is not a fault in what we sent — so it is not something we can refund. A bulb that arrives in poor condition is, and that is covered above.

If it never turns up

Tell us and we will chase it. If a posted order is lost, you get a replacement or a refund — it is our job to get it to you, not yours to argue with the postal service.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back the way you paid, through PayPal. We will process it within three working days of agreeing it, though how quickly it appears on your statement is down to PayPal and your bank — usually a few working days.

Where we are refunding a whole order that has not been sent, that includes the delivery charge.

Your legal rights

Nothing on this page reduces the rights the law gives you. What we sell must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose, and as described. If it is not, you are entitled to a remedy regardless of anything written here.

If you think we have got something wrong, email us. We are a small business on a small island and we would much rather fix a problem than have you tell people we did not.
